The FEA Midyear Meeting is a two-day advocacy-focused event held each year in Washington, DC. This gathering brings Qualified Intermediaries (QIs) and industry professionals together to advocate for Section 1031 and strengthen the future of the like-kind exchange industry.
Day 1: Industry Briefings & Legislative Insights
The meeting begins on the first afternoon with sessions at the host hotel. Attendees receive updates on legislative and regulatory developments affecting Section 1031 and the QI industry. Often, a member of Congress—or a member of their staff—joins the group to share firsthand insight on current legislative activity.
FEA’s government affairs team also provides a detailed overview of the next day’s Day on the Hill, preparing participants with key economic data and talking points that help educate congressional offices on the critical role that like-kind exchanges play in the U.S. economy.
Day 2: Day on the Hill
On the second day, attendees break into small, pre-assigned groups and head to Capitol Hill for a full schedule of congressional meetings. Many participants say that walking the halls of Congress and engaging directly with House and Senate offices is one of the most memorable parts of the event.
